THE GOSPEL OF JOHN
Steve takes us on a verse by verse journey through John's gospel. We also dig deeper with other authors and theologians along the way.
1-33 Jesus Does It For Us (Q&A with Brad Jersak)
In this final episode of the season we are discussing the last chapters of John’s gospel with our friend, Brad Jersak. During the episode, Brad references an essay by Bob Ekblad. That essay can be found in a book called Stricken By God? Steve suggests adding a translation of the Septuagint to your collection of Bibles. His favorite is The Orthodox Study Bible.
This year Impact Nations has provided clean water for over 20,000 people. We have led Journeys of Compassion to seven different nations where thousands of people have responded to the gospel and dozens of churches were planted. Nearly one hundred people have received our small business training. Women have been rescued from a life of forced prostitution, while others have been freed from prison or a life on the streets. Now, that may sound like we’re tooting our own horn, but actually, you donors are the ones who should be taking a victory lap. People from all over the world have given their time, money, talents, and resources to make all of this happen. Armed with your passion and the saving power of Jesus Christ, it is amazing what we can accomplish. We’ve got some amazing things planned for 2019, but we can’t do any of it without your help. Would you please consider a year end gift to help Impact Nations demonstrate the gospel? Visit www.impactnations.com/donate today.
1-32 Ultimate Reality
What was Mary Magdalene’s first reaction when she encountered the empty tomb? Why didn’t she recognize Jesus when she first saw his resurrected body? Why did John write this book anyways? Steve addresses these questions and more in this look at the final chapters of John’s gospel.
This week’s episode is brought to you by our Journey to the Philippines. On March 10th, our team will travel to Eastern Samar, one of the poorest provinces in the Philippines. This region is routinely hit by devastating typhoons which leads to the spread of water-borne illnesses and a general sense of hopelessness. You could be the one to bring hope. On this Journey, you will see God work in ways that you never imagined. The blind will see, the deaf will hear, and hundreds will respond to the gospel. You will get to see the joy on a mother’s face as you deliver a water filter that may well rescue her child’s life. If you’re a regular listener, you’ve heard me talking about Journeys of Compassion all year long. If you haven’t yet joined Impact Nations on a Journey, I’m left with only one question: what are you waiting for? Trust me, you’ll never be the same again. Visit www.impactnations.com/philippines to learn more.
1-31 He Gave Us His Best
What was that inscription above Jesus’ cross all about? Why did Jesus give His mother to John? And what was the significance of water and blood flowing from Jesus’ body? This week Steve looks at five aspects of John’s depiction of the crucifixion.
I’d like to take a minute to tell you about a page from the Impact Nations Christmas catalog that I am particularly excited about this year. In the past I have told you about our Skills and Business training programs. We are really passionate about helping the poor become self-sufficient. But sometimes, before we can get people trained, we have to simply rescue them from a dangerous situation. That’s why one section of our Christmas catalog is simply titled, “Rescue a Life”. In Uganda we are working with partners to rescue pregnant teens from the streets of Kampala or from abusive homes. They are placed in a safe shelter where they receive the care and attention that they and their unborn children so desperately need. Through this year’s catalog, you get to participate in their rescue. We need your help to pay for the medical bills related to their pregnancy. Once these young ladies have given birth to beautiful healthy babies, they can begin the process of getting trained up and prepared for the workforce. To get involved, please visit impactnations.com/christmas and check out the “Rescue a Life” section.
1-30 Witnessing the Weakness
Why did Peter cut off that guy’s ear? Why did John leave out details of Jesus last day? What was Pilot’s intent when he asked “What is truth?”? This week Steve studies Jesus arrest and Peter’s denial, from chapters 18 & 19 of John’s gospel.
This week’s episode is brought to you by the Impact Nations Christmas catalog. By now you have likely received your copy of the print version of the Christmas catalog. Pour yourself a coffee and sit down for a quick read. The catalog is filled with stories of how Impact Nations is partnering with donors just like you to rescue some of the most vulnerable people in the world. In addition to these inspiring stories, we’ve got some great gift selections. You can participate in rescuing pregnant teens from the streets or provide skills and business training that will help widows become self-sufficient. Do you want to feed the hungry or provide medicine for the poor? You can do that too! If you’d like to give online, check out our all new online version of the Christmas catalog at impactnations.com/christmas.

This week’s episode is brought to you by our latest effort to free women from a life of the streets. A couple of weeks ago, Impact Nations brought a team of women to Kenya, where in one night they helped rescue 78 women from a life of forced prostitution. Along with our partner, Mike Brawan, we have already found housing and support for 53 of those women. We need your help to get funding for the remaining 25. For only $100, you can provide two months worth of safe housing, food, counseling, business training, and a small loan to help a woman get her own business started. Will you help us? We’ve started a crowdfunding page at www.impactnations.com/kenya. Imagine the difference $100 could make.

These filters will save lives. The filters are already on their way to Africa, but we need your help with the additional costs of distribution including fuel and lodging for our distributors. Will you help us? Please give to our I Thirst Clean Water Program at www.impactnations.com/cleanwater. Thank you for your partnership.

This week’s episode is brought to you by the Impact Nations clean water fund. Did you know that over 844 million people lack access to clean water? How’d you like to help fix that? This week’s episode is brought to you by our Journey to India. Each year, Impact Nations partners with our friend, Randeep, as he and his amazing team seek to break new ground in Northern India. Every year, Randeep brings us to villages where no one has ever heard the gospel of Jesus Christ. Before we arrive, a team has scouted the region, prayed through towns, and identified a man of peace in the community. Then we go into those villages and demonstrate the gospel through medical clinics, water filter distribution, and healing the sick in Jesus name. And every year, churches spring up as a result of our Journey of Compassion. Hundreds of churches have been started in recent years, as the gospel has radically changed lives. How would you like to say that you were there when the gospel came and changed a village? Join us, February 10th to the 22nd. Register today at impactnations.com/india.

This week’s episode is brought to you by our Small Business Loan Program. A lady named Maria took our small business training in Uganda earlier this year. At a cost of only $65, each filter can be shared by as many as five homes. And of course, whenever we install a filter we are also telling people about the Living Water that is Jesus. That is good news to the poor. We couldn’t do this without our amazing donors. If you would like to be one of those donors, visit impactnations.com/cleanwater.
